The front main bearing (actually the rear small bearing) on the volkswagon 1800 & 2000 air cooled engine supplied by most manufacturers is the same as the 1600. This bearing should have 2 oil holes in it, but the 1600 bearing only has 1 oil hole. If you do not modify this bearing the engine will fail & engine parts suppliers are putting the responsability back on the intaller/assembler.
